Bird Diorama

Whew! Another week almost gone.

Today I have a very special card for you from Julie Davison. She has a really cool blog. Check it out!

I love this diorama card that I ran across. I wish I was better at photography, but alas, I am severely challenged! I put the inside of the card also, because it is kind of hard to tell from the picture just how it is. This card folds flat to fit inside a regular A2 envelope.

Just Jade cardstock 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 YOU NEED TWO

Score both pieces exactly the same at 1/2", 1" 4 1/4" and 5" (Score them separately, not at the same time. This makes for more accurate scoring which will result in cleaner folds.)

White cardstock 3 3/8 x 4 1/8 YOU NEED TWO

Using the Birds and Branches bundle, stamp the branches and leaves on one of the white pieces. I stamped the leaves with Soft Suede, the leaves with Just Jade.

Stamp the bird with Soft Suede and the fill in stamp with So Saffron. Stamp 3 flowers with Flirty Flamingo. Cut all these out with the Birds and More die set. While you have the die set at your fingertips, cut the leafy circle out of the middle of one of the green pieces.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped with Soft Suede. It has just the right size greetings to fit in those little places and it has one for every occasion.

Cut the greeting out with the smallest rectangle from Stitched So Sweetly die set. This is a die set I pull time and time again. It has the perfect shapes for sentiments and sized images. I attached a 1/4" strip of So Saffron behind the image. Attach this to the circle piece with dimensionals. Attach your flowers with dimensionals also.

Attach your bird to the white piece over the branches with dimensionals. Attach this piece to the middle of the second green piece.

Stamp a second white piece with a sentiment of your choice and another bird if you desire. Attach this piece to the back of the green piece that you put the leaves and branches on. This is the back of the card. Here is what Julie did.

I finished the card up with a piece of linen thread wrapped around my fingers several times and then tied with a second piece in the middle. This was my own personal addition. Add pearls to the middle of the flowers.

Then stand back and admire your work before you run to pull cardstock to make a second diorama card. These are so much fun and stand so nicely on your desk or table. They are the perfect card to make for someone. It's almost like giving them a gift.

Enjoy!

Vickie
